Go Shelf

So, I wanted some shelves above the computer, to put trays for invoices, price lists, etc; a stapler, a box with business cards, a couple of how-to books, a radio currently sitting on the window sill, a ruler, a notebook... Well, there are many things I want to have in reach here.



















I cut a cheap Go Board in half to use to hold the shelves, I'll strengthen the construction a bit more later, because I'm not sure it will hold with just the nails and glue.

I cut another Go Board in half as well, to use for the back. I will drill holes in it and use to screw it tight onto the wall. This will hold, I'm sure because I used screws, but I didn't want to use those where they would be seen.

When I was half-way through I realized I should have flipped the back boards so that they would show the 13x13 board as the side boards do, in the inside. Oh well, I guess it won't show once I get it filled up with junk.

Teamviewer

We arrived safe in Shenyang, China around noon today (local time) after about 20 hours in the air and in the Amsterdam and Beijing airports.
It is raining so only around 30 degrees but quite humid.
Since Facebook and Google are blocked I had to do something to get around that.
gmail actually worked fine, I just had to go to google.hk, but google reader only worked for some of the sites, and of course Facebook didn't work at all.
Also, google reader is fine for reading blogs but not for writing...

Knowing all this before I went, I installed TeamViewer on my PC at home and I'm using it right now to get this post written.
I'm fairly satisfied with their remote control solution, but I had expected a little bit more from their VPN solution, which only be used to open a explorer window on the remote host, not what I'd call VPN.

Off to China

Plane leaves 13:20 tomorrow, I will probably not be able to blog from China (not that I do it too frequently anyways), but yeah... Bye bye, see ya

Mera emalj åt folket!

Eftersom jag i princip aldrig köper godis, och övriga varor (t.ex. té och cigarriller) oftast kommer i förpackningar av "fel" storlek/form, så har jag färre emaljaskar än vad jag skulle vilja, här är iaf ett urval.
Noga räknat är inte emaljen ett krav, bara det är plåt och ser bra ut, men emalj är ett klart plus; särskilt om det är en äldre modell av ask.

Klädnypsförvaring med lite R'n'Roll-känsla

Efter en lyckad surströmmingsfest så har man ett par såna här burkar över.
Jag tycker att de är väl snygga att bara kastas bort, så jag har två stycken att förvara klädnypor i.
Andra användningsområden kan vara skålar för godis, tex Türkisk Peber eller Ischoklad?
Notera att man ska diska burkarna väldigt noga först.

Car radio

I had the car on service and specifically asked that they should fix the radio, that stopped working after I didn't use the car for a couple of years. When power was out (dead battery) a code was needed, some theft protection I guess; though I cannot see why anyone would like to steal that piece of crap, it doesn't even have a CD player.

Anyways, the VW certified Olofssons bil couldn't fix it, but told me that new radios are quite cheap now, about 1500:- they told me.

Later I checked with Clas Ohlson and they had a model for a little less than 700:-, my brain made it 7000:- so I said no thanks only to later realize my mistake and decide to go back soon.

But today I walked into Teknikmagasinet and looked in their catalogue and sure enough, they had one for about 500:-, but they also had a sale on one so I ended up paying 360:-.

Now i just need to figure out how to remove the old radio and mount the new one.
